Flawed and Cherished

Flawed and Cherished

These two words – flawed & cherished - stand in complete opposition to each other it
appears.  Got flaws?  Perhaps you experience love and endearment from those closest to you, and everyone else stands off, looks at you with questioning eyes, simply because of some flaw.  It could be a physical defect, the clothes you wear, the way you smell, or your method of speaking.  And we get labeled as “FLAWED” when any of these circumstances happen.

Good NEWS!  Though you may have a flaw, there is one who cherishes you and esteems you as worthy of love.  He is the Christ, Jesus – the Son of God.

His grace reaches out to you, even you, and invites you into a relationship with him.  He wants you to come near, draw near, be near.  He wants to impart His presence into your world and into your heart.

You, too, are a beloved one.  You are one for whom Christ paid the ultimate sacrifice of His own life, so that you may have life.

Forgiveness, grace, love, mercy, peace is offered to you in spite of your flaws.

That is truly good news.

The gospel of Matthew is pertinent here.  “Come to me all who labor with heavy loads, including whatever flaws you bear.  I will give you rest.  Take my ways upon you, for I am meek and humble in spirit and you shall find rest for your soul.”

The one who offers is faithful and just.  He sees you as you are and loves you in the middle of your misery.

Come to the saving Christ.

Let His hope and mercy wash you anew.

A Beautiful and Terrible World

A Beautiful and Terrible World

This is the good and bad of life, isn’t it?  We
live in a beautiful world where terrible things happen.  What is the answer?  Where is hope?

Christ himself gives us hope.  Listen up.

“In this world, you will have troubles.  Take heart.  I have overcome the world.”

One of my life verses says this: “Be not afraid nor dismayed, for I your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

And another: “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

We are offered hope time and time again.  It is as if God wrote these words yesterday, not thousands of years ago.

    Fear not.
               Be not afraid.
                          Have hope.

I want to use a phrase from an old song.  It works here.

“I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand”

God never sleeps.
He never nods off.
He doesn’t take vacations.

He has a steady hand on the world.

All you and I have to do is keep our hand in His hand.

I'm Not Superman and God Doesn't Care

I’m Not Superman
and God Doesn’t Care

I don’t know physics.
I don’t know mechanical engineering.
I’m not good at gardening.
I can’t cipher the square root of anything.

I can’t leap tall buildings at a single bound.
I can’t stop bullets.
I can’t bend steel with my bare hands.
I can’t see through solid walls.

I’m just me.  I guess you’d say I’m useless.

But not God.

He sees me and this is what He says.

~My power shows up best in weak people.
2 Corinthians 12:9

~God gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Isaiah 40:29

~I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:13

~God’s spirit helps us in our weak moments, for we don’t know how to pray properly, but His spirit works on our behalf, using our moaning and groaning that is too deep for words.
Romans 8:26

Our weaknesses become strength in the hands of our God.  How about that?

This is good news indeed.
