Flawed and
Cherished
These
two words – flawed & cherished - stand in complete opposition to each other
it
appears. Got flaws? Perhaps you experience love and endearment
from those closest to you, and everyone else stands off, looks at you with
questioning eyes, simply because of some flaw.
It could be a physical defect, the clothes you wear, the way you smell,
or your method of speaking. And we get
labeled as “FLAWED” when any of these circumstances happen.
Good
NEWS! Though you may have a flaw, there
is one who cherishes you and esteems you as worthy of love. He is the Christ, Jesus – the Son of
God.
His
grace reaches out to you, even you, and invites you into a relationship with
him. He wants you to come near, draw
near, be near. He wants to impart His
presence into your world and into your heart.
You,
too, are a beloved one. You are one for
whom Christ paid the ultimate sacrifice of His own life, so that you may have
life.
Forgiveness,
grace, love, mercy, peace is offered to you in spite of your flaws.
That
is truly good news.
The
gospel of Matthew is pertinent here. “Come to me all who labor with heavy loads,
including whatever flaws you bear. I
will give you rest. Take my ways upon
you, for I am meek and humble in spirit and you shall find rest for your soul.”
The
one who offers is faithful and just. He
sees you as you are and loves you in the middle of your misery.
Come
to the saving Christ.
Let
His hope and mercy wash you anew.
