We Are Invited In

We Are Invited In

The invitation has been given.  God invites us into a relationship with Him.  He desires not just a conversation, or for us to come over for tea on occasion, but to call Him up, often.  He wants our texts, our emails, our chatty conversations, or cries of woes, and our shouts of happy.  He wants to be such a part of our lives that He keeps extending the invitation, time and again.

“Come unto me, all who are weary,
and carry heavy loads.
I will help you carry that load.”

And when we pray, in some magical mystical way, God hears us, even if all we can do is groan, moan, toss and turn, let tears fall from our eyes, or even if we are silent.  He is with us in all of those moments as well.

To God, the relationship is everything.  And relationship, by its very nature, means closeness, conversation, communication, trust.  We are connected in ways we may not understand, yet God wants that connection with us.

And so, we are continually invited into the very presence of God.  He wants us to metaphorically crawl up onto His lap and just be with Him.

I can handle that kind of friendship.  I identify with that kind of relationship.

Some of our finest moments are when Carolyn and I just cuddle.  We usually lie in bed, arms entwined.  We may talk or not.  Often, she’ll ask me to tell her some stories from my childhood.

But mostly … we cuddle.  I love the very presence of her in my arms.

Just today, we were in a furniture store and found a two-seat leather sofa.  We had to try it out.  And for those few minutes we cuddled.

Can you picture that in your relationship with God?  It’s simply being with Him.

My prayer for you is that you will experience those moments of time with God and they will become some of the most precious and intimate moments you’ve ever imagined.
