Looking for God

If I were to start a new business, I would open a God shop.  It seems to me that people everywhere are looking for God.  And they are looking in some obscure and out-of-the-way places and spaces.

I could offer God in a variety of sizes and shapes, smells and tastes, colors and languages.

Check this out …
“Get Your God HERE!  NOW!  For just $19.95 you too can own your own GOD.  He comes in an array of colors, and there is even a nifty hook on the back so you can hang God on your wall at home or at the office.  Everybody who is anybody has one.
Call now … 800-777-7777!  Operators are standing by.”

I could make a million bucks, probably, perhaps, maybe.

Some find God in their TV program, the music of a certain preacher/teacher.  Some find God in a trinket to wear on their wrist or around their neck.  Some find God in books and magazines.

There is a great search on to find God.

~Some create banners and march and war in the name of their God.
~Some create clubs, organizations, and claim they have found God.
~Some use God-talk to sound interesting, or to be popular, or to sooth their ills and aches and pains.

Yes indeed.  The world has gone crazy in its search for God.

We call out to him, we cry, we beg, we plead, we write articles, we put on rallies, all wanting to see more of God.

And there He quietly sits.  He’s in deep hiding, and it is the last place one would ever think of looking to find God.

He is inside the heart of every man, every woman, every child.  Inside each of us is the God-spark that awaits acknowledgement, awaits recognition, and awaits the invitation to be a significant part of our lives.  He’s already with us.  He just needs to be invited to flood and fill our hearts, minds and life with His light and power.

God is a spirit.  And we open ourselves to His spirit.  He cuts through iron walls, titanium shields, and any prison of our making.  He calls, He beckons, He whispers.  He continually reaches out to us, asking to be invited into a relationship.  Not just as a tag-along.  He wants to be included in the daily grind of life.

Read the words … listen to the words.  God sent us a message in Revelations 3:20.

“Listen.  Look.
I stand at the door and knock.
If you hear me, open the door.
I’ll come right in.
We will sit down to supper.
We will have fellowship.”

Isaiah 55:6 puts it this way.

“Seek God while he is here
and can be found.
Pray to him – He is close at hand.
Let the evil leave their ways
and their evil thinking
Let them come to God,
the merciful one.
Come back to God,
who is full of forgiveness.”

There is no fear in coming to God.  His arms are outstretched and ready to receive us.

The last phrase captures the essence of God – “who is full of forgiveness.”

It’s your move.  I know where God can be found
